Loony Spoons instructions

Game Setup

Remove the Crook Cards, Butter and Sprinkles: Remove the Crook Cards, Butter, Sprinkles from the playing deck.

Remove Fairy Bread: Remove the Fairy Bread from the Orders deck.

Lay out the spoons: Count the number of players, add that many spoons to the middle of the table, and remove one. There should be one fewer spoons than players.

Deal Playing Cards: Shuffle the ingredient cards and deal 4 cards to each player, facing down.

Deal Order Cards: Shuffle the orders pile and deal 1 card to each player, facing up. This card will remain on the table in front of them.

Race to Complete Your Order

Loony Spoons is a game of constant play—everyone is playing simultaneously and passing cards as fast as possible!

Your goal is to be the first to match your hand to your personal order.

  • Pass to the left: All players will start with 4 cards in their hand to get the game flowing. All players should immediately discard one card and pass it face down to their left.
  • Pickup from the right: All players should now have 3 cards in their hand. They will now pickup the card that was discarded by the Player to their right. Each player must quickly choose a card to discard, and pass it to the player on their left.
  • Continuous Flow: This motion repeats rapidly around the table. Players are constantly sifting through ingredients, trying to match the 3 ingredients on their face-up Order card.
  • The draw pile: The dealer sits at the start of the loop and picks up from the Draw pile as they won't have anyone sitting to their right. Place your fastest player here to keep the cards flowing.
  • The Last Player: The final player discards their unwanted card to a pile on their left. This discard pile will be used as the new Draw Pile if the original one runs out.
  • Speed is Key: Move as fast as you can to complete your Order, but always keep a close eye on those spoons!

Grab a Spoon!

The moment everyone has been waiting for!

  • Order Fulfilled: The first player to collect the 3 ingredients needed to match their Order card should immediately grab a spoon. They can do this quietly or make a big dramatic show of it—that's up to them!
  • Free-for-All: As soon as someone takes a spoon, it's a free-for-all! You do not need to complete your Order to grab a spoon once the first one is taken.
  • Keep the Game Moving: Its common for people to not realise that a Spoon has been taken, so keep the cards flowing until the last spoon has been taken.
  • The Loser: The game continues until all spoons have been taken. The one player left without a spoon loses the round.

Reset and Play Again

  • Collect all the Ingredient cards and Order cards. Shuffle both decks separately. Deal the cards for the next round.
  • The round is over, and the player without a spoon is the loser. You have two options:
    1. Keep the same group of players and play the next round.
    2. Eliminate the player who missed out on a spoon and continue playing with a smaller group until a single champion remains.
